Definition

This metric shows the average count of admissions with confirmed COVID-19 over the 7 days up to and including the date shown.

This metric has been deprecated and no longer appears on the dashboard. Historic data for this metric is available in the API.

Methodology

This data counts people who are in a hospital bed with COVID-19 as at 8am on the day of reporting.

These figures include people admitted to NHS acute hospitals and mental health and learning disability (MHLD) trusts

NHS England publishes updates on the second Thursday of each month. These cover data for the previous month.

This metric is calculated as the total number of admissions in the 7 days up to and including the date shown, divided by 7.
