Influenza

Influenza (commonly known as flu) is a respiratory infection.

The rate of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU) admissions for influenza includes a larger number of NHS trusts in England as it is a mandatory collection. The hospital admission rate data we have for influenza comes from a voluntary network of these trusts (termed a sentinel surveillance system). Find out more about data collection for influenza.

During the autumn and the winter we update influenza healthcare and testing metrics every Thursday at 4pm.
