Rationale

The Index of multiple deprivation (IMD) provides a measure of the cases who are living in the most deprived areas.

Definition

This graph illustrates the percentage of Lead Exposure in Children Surveillance System (LEICSS) cases in each quintile of the index of multiple deprivation (IMD) from previous years.

Methodology

The Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) is assigned based on the LEICSS cases postcodes. The data are organised according to the deprivation quintiles, and the percentage of LEICSS cases in each of these quintiles.

Caveats

The IMD data used currently are from 2019, which may not accurately reflect current deprivation levels.
