What's new

Last updated on Thursday, 13 February 2025 at 08:35pm

We regularly update the dashboard with new data and features. Here we'll show a timeline of changes that have happened outside of the weekly data refresh.

    • The NHS has made some changes to its geographic regions which affects some of the data on the dashboard.

The NHS Trust St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has merged with Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This affects COVID-19 data for patients and admissions to these hospitals. The data for both trusts have merged. This will also affect the previous time series for this data.

Some other changes affect users of our API extracting data using geography_code:

      • the NHS Region "Midlands" was [E40000008] and is now [E40000011]
      • the NHS Region ''North East and Yorkshire" [E45000009] is now [E40000012]
    • We have updated the chart showing measles cases by week of symptom onset.

The cases are now represented by markers connected by straight lines to show the data more accurately. We have also added a new colour palette to make it easier to distinguish between different trend lines.

A blue shaded section now shows the reporting delay, affecting the last 4 weeks of data collected. This replaces the dashed lines that we previously used to represent these data. The figures shown in this period are likely to underestimate the number of cases. This happens because of a delay between data collection and the time it takes to process it.

    • We have added measles data to the UKHSA data dashboard. This follows a rapid increase in cases in England since October 2023.

You can now use the dashboard to check new measles cases, cases since October 2023 and breakdowns by age group and region.

We will update the data every Thursday at 9.30am.

    • From today, Monday 3 June, you can now use the dashboard to see Weather health alerts warning of either hot or cold weather.

Weather health alerts provide early warnings of adverse weather affecting health and wellbeing.

You can view all current Heat health alerts or Cold health alerts in England, issued according to the season. Each alert details the impact on health and wellbeing in line with their severity.

You can also view a map showing any alerts issued.
