What's new
Last updated on Thursday, 15 August 2024 at 04:01pm
We regularly update the dashboard with new data and features. Here we'll show a timeline of changes that have happened outside of the weekly data refresh.
- Entry category: Change to metricEntry title: COVID-19 healthcare metrics now updated monthly
In April, the NHS England announced a change to when it will make COVID-19 healthcare data available. Following publication of the April data last week, we have now made these data available on the UKHSA Data Dashboard. This includes data for patients admitted to hospital up to 28 April and patients in hospital up to 30 April.
Due to an issue with data processing, data for the NHS Trust St Magnus Hospital are present to 29 March. We aim to resolve this as soon as possible.
- Entry category: Change to metricEntry title: Changes to when healthcare metrics will be updated
From next month, the NHS is changing how often it publishes healthcare data. From 4 April, updates to healthcare metrics will be paused.
We expect to resume publication on Thursday 16 May. After this date we will publish new data monthly instead of weekly. This change is because NHS England has announced a change to when it will make this data available.
- Entry category: New FeatureEntry title: COVID-19 archive data download added to the dashboard
Following the decommissioning of the COVID-19 in the UK dashboard, you can now download all the historic data on the COVID-19 archive data download page. This is accessed through access our data page.
- Entry category: New metricEntry title: COVID-19 variants added to the dashboard
We have added COVID-19 variants to the dashboard. This new metric can be found on the COVID-19 topic page
- Entry category: New FeatureEntry title: JSON bulk downloads added to the dashboard
We have added the ability to download data in bulk via JSON files. This feature can be found on the bulk downloads page.
- Entry category: New contentEntry title: Guidance added to Access our data
We have added a guide to our API and moved the location of bulk downloads; these are found in the Access our data section. Users can now find concise instructions for interacting with our API and comprehensive Swagger documentation detailing endpoint information, parameters, and example responses.
- Entry category: Change to metricEntry title: Completion of autumn 2023 COVID-19 vaccination campaign
The autumn 2023 vaccination campaign for COVID-19 and influenza ended on 31 January 2024. From 15 February, we will no longer be updating COVID-19 vaccination datasets or charts. Read more about the vaccination campaign from NHS England.
- Entry category: Change to metricEntry title: Change to COVID-19 deaths metrics
On 4 January 2024, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) stopped publishing data on deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate by date of death occurrence. This data was previously used to create the deaths charts and headline numbers on the UKHSA data dashboard.
As the data is no longer being updated, we have changed the dashboard to show deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate by date of registration. This data is also published by ONS, and is aggregated by week instead of presented by day.
Data for daily deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate by date of death occurrence up to 29 December 2023 is still available to download from the dashboard, and all data on deaths with COVID-19 on the death certificate can also be found on the ONS website.
- Entry category: New FeatureEntry title: Area selectors added to the dashboard
We have added area selectors to the dashboard to make it easier for users to see data about their local area. Users can now filter available data based on different geographical regions:
- UKHSA regions for cases and testing
- ONS (Office for National Statistics) regions for deaths
- NHS regions for healthcare statistics
- Entry category: New metricEntry title: New hospitalisation metrics added for influenza
In addition to admission rates to ICU/HDU, we’re now showing data for overall hospital admission rates.
